TangoVia Buenos Aires understands that the continuity and development of tango depends on the constant training and renewal of dedicated and knowledgeable artists, audiences, educators and trainers, authors and composers.

Programs

a- Education which supports the development of student musicians at all levels, from primary school to high school, familiarizing them with the language and the richness of tango.

b- Education about genre’s masters, rooted in the existing documentation, motivated by a commitment to tango as an art form.

c- Education about specific techniques of interpretation, based on great works of tango both known and unknown.  “Specific” does not mean that they lack modernity, but that they reflect the correct technical knowledge needed in order to put the distinctive stylistic characteristics of the language of tango into practice.

d- Education aimed at the training of groups with local musicians.  This is how the Tango School Orchestra began, with Emilio Balcarce and innumerable other invited master musicians playing alongside musicians who are one or more generations younger than them.

e- Education through conferences, master classes, and exhibits.

f- Education through the development and production of a first class archive of musical scores, with easy access and immediate comprehension (through the recuperation and correction of available original material and the transcription of materials when necessary).

g- Education through seminars for teachers of music and dance at the first, second or third levels.

Education through the production and diffusion of educational materials that are easy to understand and in attractive formats.

h- Education for those who want to write about this music (by means of symposiums or courses for journalists, critics, essayists, etc).

i- Development of the library of TangoVia Buenos Aires: books about tango, magazines and recommended reading lists by different researchers, educators, and general tango professionals.

j- Developoment of educational material that can circulate without us, such as a series of publications for general audiences: books, booklets, CD-Roms or DVDs with clear information and in attractive formats.

k- Collaboration with other institutions in order to support the development of an integrated culture in the city of Buenos Aires, in Argentina, and in the world.  We will offer all our knowledge, experience and capacity to generate content in order to generate new actions in association with other cultural and social actors.

l- Encouragement of all musicians and music teachers to learn and to play tango by means of the design, publication, and diffusion of musical scores for a great diversity of instrumental soloists and groups, such as piano, guitar, or bandoneón solos, quintets, sextets or full tango orchestras, among many other possibilities.

m- Concentration in the codification of the tango tradition oriented around the bandoneón, its teaching, its history, and its technical possibilities.
